Ashley Falls is proud to partner with the San Dieguito Alliance to bring the Study Buddies program to Ashley Falls! Study Buddies pairs together elementary students with a high school student from the area to act as a mentor and tutor to the younger buddy. Buddies meet together one day a week for an hour at Ashley Falls, and are overseen by two adult co-coordinator volunteers.

The success of the program lies in the unique partnering and mentoring that takes place between the high school student and the younger child. Elementary students are referred to the program by their teachers or other school staff, who identify those students who can benefit academically, socially, or emotionally from "mentoring". Parents can also request that their child be considered for the program. High school students apply for the program through their school counseling offices, and receive community service hours for their time in the program. The friendship and bond that develops can be particularly rewarding for children and teens. During the hour the buddies are together each week, time is split between homework time and fun "buddy' time.
