News from the District Office

It is time to register your child for the 2024-2025 school year. To access the packet, log in to ParentVUE at https://ca-dmusd.edupoint.com/PXP2_OEN_Login.aspx. Last day to register is Feb 29th.
DMUSD is hosting Parenting in a Digital World, presented by Clayton Cranford, cyber safety expert and law enforcement professional on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, 6:00–7:30 PM at Ocean Air School. You need to RSVP.

Childcare is available for students in grades K-6. Complete this survey to sign up.

Join our PTA Board!

We are always looking for parents and guardians who are interested in joining our PTA Board or as chairpersons for events and programs on our campus.

If not you, then who? If you have a heart for the betterment of the students on our campus, then we need you! We have all different types of positions that can suit your scheduling needs.

You just need to want to make Ashley Falls a great place for our students!

Our School Library

This month, our school library received a shipment of books purchased with the funds raised from our previous book fair! The students have been so excited to see and read all the new library bound books.

Also, we are delighted to announced that we will have Spanish language books coming to help support our Spanish language learners!

Our spring book fair is coming in March!

I Love a Clean San Diego Assembly

The PTA helped organize and bring "I Love a Clean San Diego" to Ashley Falls last week. Fourth through sixth graders learned about recycling, best practices for sorting waste, composting, and safe ways to dispose of hazardous waste. This was an informative assembly prior to the school launching the "Green Team." Stay tuned for more information regarding this new program on campus.

Thank you to our VP of Programming, Amanda Frizzell, for bringing fun and educational assemblies to our students!

Gift to School Update

At our last PTA general association meeting, parents had questions about the "gift to school" that the PTA made in October. Thus far, the large gift to school has paid for the renewal of the school's RAZ kids subscription, 6th grade book sets in the classrooms, copy paper for the entire school, and the start of the "Green Team," which will be a new program starting soon on campus.

Volunteer with us!

The spring Scholastic book fair arrives the first week of March and conveniently coincides with parent-teacher conference week. Experience the joy of the Scholastic book fair through the eyes of the students and maybe find some literature for your house!

On March 22nd, Ashley Falls turns into the biggest community potluck with families sharing their familial cultural traditions and backgrounds. Your help and contributions is what will make this a successful and fun event. Will you join us?

Wednesday, March 27th is Ashley Falls Jog-A-thon. Proceeds from the Jog-a-thon go towards funding the DMSEF and STEAM+ in our district.

The capstone to our PTA family and community events for the year, on May 3rd Ashley Falls school becomes the finest art gallery in Carmel Valley exhibiting every Ashley Falls student's artistic work and developing talent.

Teacher Features was a huge success! Winners were announced this week. You should be hearing from your teacher soon if you were selected!

Thank you to all the teachers, staff, and families who participated! Shout out to Olga Rose for being our chairperson for this fun drawing!

Family Dance

Our Family Dance last week was a lot of fun! The 360 photobooth was a hit! Who knew students would love our blacktop and playground so much that they would come back to play MORE in the evening!

Thank you to Renee Sells and the rest of the family dance committee for planning the event and setting up and tearing down!

Valentine's Flowers for Teachers and Staff

On Valentine's Day, students were encouraged to bring in a single stem for each of their teachers and adopted staff. The PTA created bouquets from the students' contributions for the teachers/staff to easily take home. The bouquets were a reflection of the unique and beautiful students on our campus.

From our VP of Internal Events, Jane Desai: I'd like to express my gratitude to those that helped out with this V-Day project. Those that helped out with the ideas/planning, the vase distribution, and bouquet making, I can't thank you enough. This was truly a team effort! The bouquets were absolutely beautiful and each teacher and staff member really felt the love. Thank you again so much!
