A message from the President

This newsletter is a continuation of our last one highlighting your PTA funds at work. We continue to do great things on our campus because of your contributions. It's never too late or too little to make a difference!

PTA-Sponsored Programs

With your generous donations above the general membership level, we can provide additional programs and events to all Ashley Falls students and families beyond what state funding allows.

Mini Grants

The Ashley Falls PTA remains one of the most generous in our district when it comes to our Mini Grants. Every Ashley Falls teacher/staff member is provided an allocation from our PTA budget to purchase items for their classrooms every year.

No teacher wish lists required at Ashley Falls

Your donations allow us to equally give to each classroom, the STEAM+ teachers, the Library, and our maintenance staff.

The allocation allows teachers/staff to immediately purchase what they need for this school year without waiting for an online wish list to be fulfilled by individuals.

Your contributions not only impact your current classroom(s), but improve the classroom your child will enter into next year and create a legacy for years to come.

This school year, Mini Grants have purchased: Books in English and Spanish for various classrooms (pictured above), storage bins/baskets, folders, birthday crowns, pens, whiteboard markers/erasers, labels, cabinets, highlighters, and a wet/dry vacuum for the school (pictured).

Garden Club

The Garden Club is an on-campus lunch club that is sponsored by the PTA and facilitated by Mrs Ormsby, Mrs Fallon-McKnight, and Mrs Shaw. Students have the opportunity to learn how to plant, nurture, harvest, prepare, and enjoy fresh food from our campus garden! This week, the Garden Club enjoyed a fresh rainbow swiss chard frittata with parmesan and fresh herbs. This lunch club meets every day.

This is open to all students at Ashley Falls and funded by your PTA donations!

Scholastic Book Fair

Our school book fairs occur in fall and spring. This is sponsored, organized, and run by the PTA. Thank you to everyone for your support last week!

The fall scholastic book fair did almost $13,000 in sales. The proceeds will go directly to our school and children.

Also, thank you for all your book donations. We collected about 2,000 books! These books will be donated through the program Read It Again San Diego to Lincoln Acres School in National City.

New lunch club coming soon...

We’re bringing drama club into the classroom!

On Monday, December 4th and Monday, December 11th, we’ll be hosting a special lunch club in Mrs. Miller’s music room. Encourage your child to stop by for some fun improvisation games and character development.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who have expressed an interest in acting or theatre, but have not had the chance to participate in the after school drama program.

It's free, open to all Ashley Falls students, and sponsored by the PTA!

Mileage Club update

After 7 weeks of mileage club, our students have collectively completed 1,731 miles. If mapped out, it is about 100 miles away from Memphis, Tennessee. With an average of 247 miles per week, we should be close to arriving in New York by the time we get to winter break in December.

Mileage Club "runs" every morning from 7:45-8 am and Tuesdays/Fridays at lunch.

This health-focused club is sponsored by the PTA and powered by parent volunteers and Coach Cunha!
